We are Amazon Theatrix Ensemble — a youth theatre group turning dance, drama and visual arts into a living tool for human rights, health and dignity across western Kenya. If your community has a message, we help it take the stage.
We turn citizens into champions for accountable leadership — using drama and roadshows to make democracy, devolution and human rights make sense in everyday Dholuo and Kiswahili.
From sexual reproductive health to HIV awareness and substance abuse, our PET and MAGNET community theatre opens hard conversations young people are usually told to avoid.
We help young women and men earn a living from their talent — mentoring artists in film, photography, fashion and the business of creativity so the stage becomes a career.

How we work
Three ways we create change
We don’t just perform and leave. Our approach pairs the energy of the stage with the patience of community building.
Advocate
We carry the voices of youth, women and people with disabilities to roadshows, forums and the airwaves — making sure the people most affected are heard first.
Build capacity
Through our A.T.E Faculty we train artists, school drama teams and partner staff in performing arts, photography and videography — growing the next generation of storytellers.
Partner
We work shoulder-to-shoulder with NGOs, county government and grassroots trusts to take well-crafted, evidence-based messages deep into communities that need them.
Our story
Born from talent, built for change
Amazon Theatrix Ensemble was formed in November 2011 by a group of young people in Kisumu who believed their talent could do more than entertain.
Today we are a registered community based organisation embracing the arts as a professional platform — a place where members earn a living while sensitising and empowering their own communities through performing and visual arts.
